The Doctor of Pharmacy program, commonly known as Pharm.
D, is a globally recognized pharmacy program with a strong focus on hospital-based
practice. This program was introduced in the year 2010 and has a duration of six
years following the completion of the 10+2 education with a science stream. It is
accredited by the Pharmacy Council of India, with an annual intake of 30 students.
The Pharm. D program is structured to equip students with
the necessary skills and knowledge to meet global healthcare demands, particularly
in managing patient medication therapy and enhancing patient outcomes. Students
develop clinical expertise to handle patients with various chronic or acute illnesses,
collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver cost-effective care,
identify and rectify drug-related issues, and educate patients and their families
on the correct usage of medications. During the final year (6th year), students
are required to undertake a one-year internship/residency in various major departments
of a specialty teaching hospital.
